Note: The blue-green colour is accurate; the Illustrated War News appears to have used a variety of inks; I'm not sure if this represents the apparently varied printing processes they used, or what.

  1. ^ Note: While Negi was the most publicized of the two at the time, modern historians usually credit Khudadad Khan as the first Indian to receive the Victoria Cross, as, while he was awarded the same day, his actions which led to the award happened earlier.
  2. ^ "Sing" was then the common spelling of "Singh" in Britain.
