President University (Indonesian: Universitas Presiden) (abbreviated as PresUniv) is a private university located in the Jababeka Industrial Estate in Cikarang. As a campus that is located around an industrial area, President University is surrounded by over 1,700 national and multinational companies like Unilever, Mattel, Samsung, ICI Paints, Mulia, and others.

The establishment of President University is closely linked to the operation of a campus in Cikarang named 'Sekolah Tinggi Teknik Cikarang' in 2001. As a university, President University officially began its operations on April 16, 2004, through Ministerial Decree 54/D/0/2004. [1]

President University conceptualized by Dr. (HC) Setyono Djuandi Darmono during his tenure as President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk. and Prof. Donald W. Watts, the President of Bond University (Queensland) and Deputy Advisor of Curtin University in Western Australia. Several prominent figures in Indonesia were also involved in refining the concept of President University, such as Prof. Dr. Juwono Sudarsono (an academic who served as Minister of Environment, Minister of Education and Culture, and Minister of Defense), legal expert Prof. Dr. Charles Himawan, SH, LLM, Ir. Laksamana Sukardi (Minister of State for Investment and Empowerment of SOEs (1999-2001) and Minister of SOEs (2001-2004)), Drs. Utomo Josodirjo (a figure in Indonesian Accounting), and national entrepreneur Surjanto Sosrodjojo.

When it commenced its academic activities in 2001, President University officially used Sekolah Tinggi Teknik (STT) Cikarang. Nevertheless, at that time, the concept of teaching and curriculum already applied to an internationally standardized university curriculum. President University obtained its status as a university from the Ministry of National Education on April 16, 2004. [2]

International Accreditation[edit]

President University has obtained international accreditation through its Faculty of Computer Science. The attainment of this international accreditation enhances the image and reputation of the university. Furthermore, it signifies a significant improvement in the quality of learning at President University from year to year.

After undergoing several stages, President University obtained international accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) institution for the Information System program, that an independent accreditation body that has become a Provisional Signatory member of the Washington Accord (WA). The Washington Accord is an international cooperation agreement in the engineering field program accreditation under the International Engineering Alliance (IAE). On September 30, 2021, the Faculty of Business at President University successfully became a member of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

According to ACBSP data on its official website, there only three universities in Indonesia that are members of ACBSP: Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta, Parahyangan Catholic University Bandung, and President University Cikarang. Maria Jacinta Arquisola, BA, MHRM, Ph.D., as the Dean of the Faculty of Business, along with two colleagues, Claudia Genoveva as the Head of the Management Study Program and Bintang Rumapea, represent President University in ACBSP membership.

  • International Curriculum - President University implements an international standard curriculum.
  • English-Speaking Environment - All courses are presented with an English introduction. Students will be accustomed to speaking, writing, and thinking in English, which is today's international language.
  • Student Extracurriculars: President University provides facilities that support student activities such as the President Executive Club, Jababeka Golf and Country Club, swimming pools, tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball courts.
  • Multinational Community - President University students come from all corners of Indonesia and abroad, such as China, Vietnam, and Laos.
  • Work Experience - President University provides an internship program for a maximum of 2 semesters for all students to prepare students for a career path.
