Need to Expand[edit]

Good to see someone is / was translating the spanish page, which appears to be quite large. For a kingdom of it's size and importance, I'm suprised it was this short - and consequently it needs to be dramatically expanded. Orchid Righteous 17:25, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of arms picture[edit]

I personally think that shine doesn't belong to coat of arms. It just looks too modern on a such old fashioned thing.

Need to Merge with Crown of Castile[edit]

The two do need to be merged, but the rest of the crown of Castile article needs to be translated first as there is lots of info in the Spanish one and it would be easier just to translate it and merge the two in English later than try to translate and adapt the Spanish article! Jonny1047 23:44, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They don´t need to be merged: the Crown of Castile is the union of several kingdoms and appeared in the 13th century, while the kingdom of Castile started in the 11th century. They represent different entities and different historical moments. --Garcilaso 12:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, well lets get rid of the thing suggesting to merge them then! Jonny1047 18:58, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The translation process: finished?[edit]

So, is anyone translating this article any more? Or should the tag be taken down? If you look at the history, you can see it's been pretty quiet for a while now. --ざくら 17:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Contradiction in need of fixing[edit]

On the country template on the top-right of the page, Castile is described as having existed from 850 – 1479. However, in the history section of the article, there is an sub-heading for the 16th century, over 20 years after Castile was originally said to have collapsed. Furthermore, the entry on that sub-header only describes events in the 15th century. Either two conflicting sources are arguing on the page, or someone got overzealous with adding sub-sections. Special Penguin 19:47, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

It's very hard to pin down a date as to when Castile ceased to exist as a country. 1479 seems rather arbitrary, as the date generally accepted as the unification of Castile and Aragon was with the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabella in 1469. I would argue, however, that Castile remained to be a state well after this wedding. Mattbaker55 (talk) 20:56, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The union of Castile and Aragon only took place in 1479, when the King and Queen of Castile became King and Queen of Aragon. In 1469, neither Isabella nor Ferdinand were sovereigns and thus their wedding represented no union yet. Surtsicna (talk) 21:07, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arms of Kingdom of Castile[edit]

Does this tiny section really need to be present in this article? While I also echo the thoughts of others that this page needs to be expanded, this section seems unneccessary and forced for an encyclopedic entry.Mattbaker55 (talk) 21:20, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Charlemagne's rule ?[edit]

I have not seen in the article any mention of the empire of Charlemagne. Why ?--Newuser0077 (talk) 19:03, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bad link for footnote[edit]

In the section "16th Century", the citation (7) has become a dead link: Estudio documental de la moneda castellana de Carlos I fabricada en los Países Bajos (1517); José María de Francisco Olmos, pp. 139-140 is no longer found at the URL http://www.ucm.es/BUCM/revistas/byd/11321873/articulos/RGID0303220133A.PDF SilverBear12 (talk) 21:39, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need to split County of Castile[edit]

Hello, I think it's necessary to cut all the content about the County of Castile in order to have its own article, with just lefting some lines about it and a link to the new County of Castile article. The period of the County of Castile has to be differenced to the Kingdom, as during the County they weren't independent & sovereign, but subordinated to the Kingdom of León.--HCPUNXKID 15:36, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
