POV[edit]

HI, IMHO, Ved Mehta, A Family Affair (1982) & Katherine Frank, Indira: the life of Indira Nehru Gandhi (2002) should be used as reference points for facts but not the authors' views and interpretations of those facts. The article in its current form is still not NPOV because there are (disparaging) comments such as "just a member of parliament." A member of parliament (Lok Sabha) represents more than a lakh people; it is the highest directly elected position (by universal adult franchise) in India. All the ministers and the prime minister need to be M.P.s. Also, if Sanjay Gandhi could influence Indira Gandhi so much, he could have become a cabinet minister. If the contrary view that he wanted to hold power without responsibility needs to be accepted, then the need for him to stand for elections to parliament must be explained. A reading of Khushwant Singh's autobiography suggests that Sanjay Gandhi may have been brash but did not contemplate perpetrating harm and injury. I'm appending a POV tag so that the necessary corrections can be made. Gurubrahma 10:08, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is a horrible horrible job of being objective totally needs to be fixed. Elefuntboy 08:01, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

According to the interview with Varun Gandhi on BBC World Hardtalk on 17 October 2005, Mrs. Frank has been sued by the Gandhi family for misstatements in her book. The court decided in favour of the Gandhi family and, it is my understanding, the book had to be revised accordingly. Therefore some caution is required in reading this article. rmv NPOV tag[edit]

Hi, I had appended the tag sometime back and outlined my reasons above. I think the article looks much better now - I've also done some copyedit. Hence, I'm removing the tag. If you feel that it is still POV, pl. feel free to append the tag and start a new discussion. --Gurubrahma 07:09, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is much better. Thanks for your work. Elefuntboy 16:35, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Edits on 12 December, 2005[edit]

It would be great if references are provided for the above; else, it may be construed as POV. Also, quoting Frank's work may not be appropriate in light of the ruling in Indian courts. See above for details. --Gurubrahma 04:20, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The references for the edits on December 12 and 13 are the same as already listed. I've made some changes in the language to incorporate more NPOV. Additionally, I've added the comment on the Indian court ruling about Frank's book.

Is this article ever been read by any editors?[edit]

Much of it is hateful crap written by some 80 year old RSS/Hindutva nut case. Please purge the unnecessary and blatantly false comments

The intensity of your message shows who among the two is hateful crap. Why is somebody who supports RSS/Hindutva a nut case? Can you give some valued comments and not post whatever comes to your mind. Please point out any facts that you disagree with. Do not make blank comments. Do not even in your dreams call Hindutva as Nutcase. It is the oldest and most scientifically proven correct way of life. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.172.32.118 (talk) 04:32, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Loads of POV[edit]

The article is full of POV. Some one should re-work on the article and cite to avoid ambiguity.

This article is factually incorrect!![edit]

This article is written by a person who has strong Sikh/Jat feelings and he is using this as a channel to express his hatred not giving out valuable information. Please remove this article!

Massive editing needed[edit]

This article needs a major edit. Most of the article has a strong POV and should not be on wikipedia.

Assessment[edit]

I've assessed this article as Start class and updated the biography template. Note that I think there is some good material here and it is a structurally sound article, however from the talk page it appears that there is some controversy regarding NPOV. If these issues can be sorted the article could likely be upgraded to B class. ponyo (talk) 14:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Really surprised to know the exact strories of late Sanjay Gandhi . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.51.48.200 (talk) 13:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Casually written[edit]

This article is written on the go.

Its not fair to call JP and others "freedom fighters" when the period referred to is 1977. There were no "Freedom Fighters" after 1947, even though there may be govt quotas for them. To a foreigner reading this article, this term can be confusing. Can call them Gandhian or simply famous freedom fighters who took part in independence movement.

and, of course, no citations given. Im sure there would have been copious articles written on him by Khushwant Singh and in magazines like India Today.

It also says Sanjay and Maneka had a tumultous marriage. Who told you? Citation needed. Also rather than just mentioning her Punjabi origins, it requires one or two lines on her hometown, parents, how they met and her modelling career. 63.216.63.52 (talk) 13:12, 28 April 2009 (UTC) Varun Oberoi[reply]

Balanced POV[edit]

POV should be more balanced. There must be something positive also. Like i had read snippets in India Today which mentioned how Sanjay went against Congress culture by holding short meetings, no rallies and was a workaholic. And we need at least one photograph of the guy. and his prototype car! Varun 63.216.63.52 (talk) 13:16, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
