Vathek[edit]

Sorry that I reverted your edit again. I don't think the source added improves much, because it picks one of various possible meanings for "divs". I felt kind of bad, for reverting your edits twice in a row, and wanted to assure it is not personal. I think the supernatural creatures in islam are often pretty confusing and Muslim sources themselves are often not consistent either (probably because there is no clergy which could rule out and canonize Islamic spiritual teachings, as in Christian angelology for example, and the clerics which exist, usually deal with legal matters). I think, however, you pointed out something important, there is no source prooving how the divs are depicted in Vathek! I added a "citation needed-tag" instead. I found a book adding a brief explanation for several things in the book, such as Genii, Afrit, Eblis. Unfortunately, Divs (here: dives) are not among them, although they apear throughout the work. For example, the afrit are a category of dives. Or the divs are said to have been chained by jann ibn jann (the father of the jinn-race). VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 00:32, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I see, no problem, the reason why I edited at first was because I felt the statement "Divs prevailed in Muslim beliefs until the Salafi Reform movement" was a strong accusation and needed a citation, I tried to find one but couldn't so the next best thing was to provide a different statement that was cited. In your final edit, I liked that you also removed the "Salafi Reform" mention. So I feel the article is better now (although someone should include a citation for jinn/div statement if possible), and that's what all we editors want (to improve the article). But thanks for reassuring me. I wont be editing the article further, I'll leave that to someone else. Have a good one. By the way, your Ifrit article is very interesting! Thanks for the compliment on the Ifrit article. (I was remembered of that one when the tale referred to an afrit as a type of "div" (Angran Div is called an ifrit in the article). Yes, the accusation on Salafism sounds too passive aggressive for an encyclopedia. It is that Salafism is known for reforming the belief in spirits, however it doesnÄt need to be pushed unnecessarily. People who are interested in "div" can just go to the corresponding article. Hi Hipal. No, its totally fine, I also felt the source was in a gray area. I checked if the website was in WP:RSP but couldn't find it. I placed it in since the existing content in the article closely mirrors it, I thought it was where the previous editor got it from. Navigation boxes[edit]

Hi! About this edit, the thing is that these are not categories. They are navigation boxes, a kind of Wikipedia:Navigation template.

Categories start with [[Category:]] while navboxes are enclosed in brackets like {{ }}.

I do not see a section stating that navboxes should be displayed in alphabetical order. The practice I see is to start with the navbox about the subject. Nakano, Tokyo has a navbox entirely about that subject, and so that navbox should be displayed first.

there is a certain level of bravery required to edit javanese and cirebonese subject areas - you have done well... as the bantul area was my location of research many years ago - I was intrigued to see your deleting the anecdotal item about the coincidence of the height of the giriloyo and imogiri 'platforms' of the graves - without going into my archived material - that is incorrect the ridge the giriloyo grave is on, and the imogiri upper portion are not the same... There is something wrong with the removed sentence. The Ottonian Renaissance did happen and there was plenty of Muslim and Chinese output and I find it strange to emphasize in a way not included on 9th or 8th century. Why do you disagree? There's no need for a second source. The sentence only says that the 10th century can be described as a "Dark Age" and that's it. It doesn't specifically state anything to any other century. How I would do it is that I will just edit it myself and cite it (and to not make overly excessive changes since that can raise alot of editors' eyebrows). So yeah, just add and cite properly. I guess you can also find specific editors who edit alot on history/middle ages/9th century etc and directly ask them. I think it wouldnt be a good idea to remove mentions of the Dark Ages to the Early Middle Ages, there's certainly some truth to that. How I see it is when the top of the topmost subheading is tagged/unreferenced notice, then it means that section needs citations. For example, if a tag is below the End of British Rule, then all the subheadings below is being referred to the top tag (so this includes Howth Gun Running 1914, Easter Rising 1916 & War of Independence 1919–21 Danial Bass (talk) 23:22, 17 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have seen that you interacted with users such as Dasfanda at pages such as History of Islam in China. It is likely that any new account making large edits on topics that combine China, Islam, and genetics is also a sockpuppet.
