I am new here and I am just a little bit afraid to just jump in and edit an article because I don't want to make a mistake! What can I do that maybe isn't a whole article so it doesn't seem so scary?OhioGirl42986 08:08, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

OhioGirl42986, your editing suggestions are on the way[edit]

SuggestBot is making a list of articles that you might like to edit. You will receive these suggestions soon. In the meantime, you might be interested in checking out the following WikiProjects. If you're interested in a project, feel free to add yourself to the member list and introduce yourself on the project talk page!

Help me![edit]

Please help me with starting out here because i am very new and I am just not sure what to do! OhioGirl42986 06:46, 1 January 2018 (UTC) OhioGirl42986 06:46, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Sure. It looks like you've been through the Wikipedia Adventure a bit, but not much else has happened for you. One question to ask yourself is how do you prefer to learn or what sort of approach works best for you? If you like to read all the documentation and read detailed step-by-step instructions, there are some other tutorials that may be helpful. You might, in that case, like reading your first article or referencing for beginners.
If you've had enough of that sort of thing and just want to start doing something, I suggest going to community portal (there's a button for it in the desktop sidebar, right under "About Wikipedia"). There you will find a number of generally small editing tasks that are asking for someone to get started on them. Most of them, you won't be ready to do, but keep looking for something that you do know enought to do: correct spelling or punctuation errors, or fix up web citations, or add images.
One way to safely learn quite a bit is to shadow one of the more experienced editors. You can look at their "User contributions" page and see all of their edits. Read their talk page. If they don't look like a grump (there are a few grumps), feel free to ask them a question about how or why they made a particular change. You can also ask questions at the Teahouse where the hosts try particularly hard to give friendly answers to new editors. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:43, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just chime in here to apologize that I didn't notice the request for suggestions from SuggestBot earlier, and to try to help out with that as well. I've removed the template for now, if you want to get some suggestions based on articles from WikiProject Television, copy and paste the code below onto this page, and SuggestBot should stop by shortly:
{{User:SuggestBot/th-suggest|category1=WikiProject Television}}
Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to help you out! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 21:47, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

where to start[edit]

Hey, OhioGirl! Think of a topic that interests you -- the author of your favorite book, or a television show you've seen every episode of six times, or your hometown, whatever. Go read that article. Do you see any typos? Are there things that are incorrect, or missing? Does it need updating? Leave a message on my talk page if you want to discuss! ----valereee (talk) 19:25, 16 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am feeling very overwhelmed[edit]

I am new here and I am feeling very overwhelmed! I am so afraid of breaking Wikipedia and I know I cant but still all I have to learn here is very overwhelming to me and I am just wondering what I can do to make it seem less so! OhioGirl42986 (talk) 17:24, 10 April 2022 (UTC)OhioGirl42986[reply]

Depends on what you want to write about. If you are interested in working on women, the group of editors who work at Women in Red are very helpful. We have designed a series of essays that can help, or you can just ask questions on the WiR talk page. SusunW (talk) 18:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SuggestBot suggestion[edit]

Hi, I saw you asked for some suggestions. The code is missing the two closing curly brackets to work properly. It should look like this: {{subst:Wikipedia:Teahouse/Suggestions/SuggestBot |category1=WikiProject_Nursing |category2=WikiProject_Medicine}} With that, SuggestBot should stop by a few minutes later with some suggestions. Let me know if it doesn't, and I'll look into what's going on! Cheers, Nettrom (talk) 19:34, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
