I would like to delete this note about an ancient page that has already been deleted, but I don't know if that's kosher without checking with the author, so would you like to do that or can I just remove it?

Less is more[edit]

In my opinion, Draft:Mark Addison can benefit from serious cutting. Select discography should be less than half that length. Also, sprinkled in there are a few hyperlinks - remove all those. Likewise, Musical career is a wall of text. This will cause causal readers' eyes to glaze over. Under "kill your darlings," the lead (third paragraph) and first paragraph of career has that long take on Born in the U.S.A./Light of Day. None of that is really about Addison. I'm not looking at refs (biochemist, not music buff), but if the draft is Declined, it may be because the reviewer found it too tedious to find the refs that provide at-length content about Addison. Keep in mind that while referencing some of Addison's accomplishments is useful, Wikiepdia rests notability on published content about the person, not confirmation of what they produce. There is a tremendous amount of name-dropping. Example "That song is included on the soundtrack to the film Bed of Roses, starring Mary Stuart Masterson, Christian Slater and Josh Brolin." Yikes. Well, thanks for the honest assessment. I thought that they wanted detail. I included names of actors because I found that on many other pages, and everywhere I turned, the message was to verify everything as completely as possible. As for the Springsteen/Light of Day story, you don't think that's notable? His band wrote the song that became one of Springsteen's biggest hits and was supposed to be the title of a movie he's in. I thought that needed to be in the lead because it was supposed to include a condensation of the reasons why someone is notable. I did wonder if I was getting too detailed, and probably got too close to it.
I'm thankful for your input — though I'm bummed because it means I'll have to put that much more energy into getting rid of what I already put a ridiculous amount of effort into collecting (it got addictive). I do agree that it's lengthy (you should see what I already cut from that discography!), but I spend a lot of time consulting Wiki pages about musicians, record producers, etc., and I'm thankful when they contain detailed information and references. So I figured I should provide as much as possible. Guess I'd better take another pass.
Thanks for fixing that classification issue! As for hyperlinks, you're saying only link to Wiki pages in copy? In visual editor, it gives options for "Wiki" or "external" link. So I should ignore the latter and only use external links as references or place them at the bottom?

Hi TexasEditor1, just seen the message you left on my talk page. I'm not a reviewer, so I can't help you with that, all I did was cleanup the wikilinks in the article. I was just pointing out that the punctation and italics goes outside brackets, rather than placing the same link twice. For example, if you want to link the article for Paul Thorn, followed by a comma, you add [[Paul Thorn]], rather than [[Paul Thorn|Paul Thorn,]] or Mundy followed by a comma, you add [[Mundy]], rather than [[Mundy|Mundy,]]. If you want to link the movie Light of Day, you add ''[[Light of Day]]'' rather than [[Light of Day|''Light of Day'']]. If you look at edit I made, the changes are all there, so you should be able to see the before and after. For the most part, if the times comes that the draft is moved to article space, an editor will wikify the article, and fix errors, I just seen there were a lot of them, so thought I would help by fixing them. I'm hoping my explaination isn't causing you more confusion.

My edit had nothing to do with external links, however, looking at the draft, I see what editors meant by removing external links. In the discography section, you have included external links to some songs and artists. I'm assuming you added them as there was no Wikipedia article to link, but that's not how links are added. If there's no Wikipedia article to link, than there is no link added, even if the person has an official website. Thanks for the response! I'm still a little befuddled about the bracketing issue because I didn't create the coding for any wikilink; I did it automatically in visual editor. Are you telling me to make sure I highlight the name only, then add the punctuation outside the highlighted area? I just realized that could be what you're referring to. That certainly would make sense. But why a name repeats inside the brackets is still a mystery, unless that has something to do with me incorrectly including punctuation in the link when I create it. Sorry about the misunderstanding; there's a definite learning curve.
But I think I have an even bigger problem. I just looked around inside the yellow box appearing above the draft, and under "reviewer tools," it says a page titled Mark Addison (talk + bio) (with the name and "talk" in red), has previously been moved or deleted (in 2010). It also says "If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue." This person is definitely not the same person as the subject of the deleted page. I'm sure I did a search when I started. I can't remember if I found this page, though it sounds familiar. (I've been working on it for a while.) I did the follow instructions to the T, or so I thought. But there is a green triangle with that image of something being shoveled onto the delete pile.
Any idea of what I should do to correct this? Should I head to the teahouse?

Actually, I had made several edits, and further inquiries about how to revise. I have requested undeletion, but I'm wondering if there's a way that I can drastically edit the entry into simpler form without losing the current draft version if it is reinstated. It's possible that I need to rethink this and cut it significantly, but I don't want to lose the work that I've done while I do so. If that makes any sense. I know this entry has merit, and the person it's about is referenced on many other pages already, so it would make sense to be able to connect it to those pages.
