Billboard Việt Nam was an online Vietnamese music magazine, owned by Purpose Media Company Limited in partnership with Billboard and owned by Vạn Thịnh Phát Group. Since the arrest of Van Thinh Phat's CEO, Trương Mỹ Lan in late 2022 for $12.5 billion fraud it has become inactive.

History[edit]

The magazine made its first public appearance as an organizer of the New Year's Countdown Lights 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.[1] Billboard Việt Nam features music news, reviews, interviews and analysis of the music industry both domestically and internationally.

Current fate[edit]

Following the arrest of Van Thinh Phat's CEO, Trương Mỹ Lan in late 2022, and the uncertain status of Purpose Media—the owner of Billboard Vietnam, which had significant ties to Van Thinh Phat—, the website has become inactive and inaccessible since the start of 2024. The last post on their Facebook page dates back to December 28, 2023. The future of Billboard Vietnam remains uncertain.

Charts[edit]

Billboard Vietnam publishes two weekly singles charts, namely Vietnam Hot 100 and Top Vietnamese Songs, with their first issue launched on January 4, 2022. Both charts measure tracks' activities in digital downloads and online streaming, but only Vietnamese-language songs are ranked on the latter.[2]
